Position:  Marketing and Communications Coordinator

Women in Communications and Technology is a national grassroots organization that creates and delivers programs through a community network to help women advance in the communications, media and technology sectors. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing the organization’s marketing and communications activities in concert with the WCT national office members, chapters and sponsors for both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Marketing and Communications
  • Implement activities to promote WCT programs with members, potential members, partner organizations, volunteers and board members
  • Create marketing and communications materials as needed, including e-blasts, one-pagers for sponsors and marketing collateral
  • Responsible for WCT’s brand and design, including consistency of style and branding in all external materials
  1.  Social Media Coordination:
  • Oversee daily posts/tweets/updates and execute social media campaigns to magnify communications initiatives
  • Leverage WCT’s social media channels to recruit members, promote program launches and grow awareness for the organization
  • Source relevant internal and external content on diversity, inclusion and women’s engagement in Canada’s digital industries for sharing on social media platforms
  1. Website and WCT Online Community
  • Act as WCT website and database lead, ensuring that all webpages and links reflect up-to-date information and current deadlines and are translated in French
  • Manage and grow WCTConnect ( by creating strategies to promote engagement of WCT greater community (members, board, sponsors and chapters)
  • Review and monitor online community content for appropriateness
  • Act as point of contact for technical support and webmaster
  • Maintain up-to-date member database information, sponsor recognition on website and marketing materials and other updates
  1. Miscellaneous
  • Assist with WCT national events, including Annual Awards Gala
  • Assist with administrative tasks as needed


  • Excellent written skills to craft web content, member and marketing communications, press releases and newsletters
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Excellent ability to connect and engage communities through social media platforms
  • Good working knowledge of social media such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Google Analytics
  • Team player comfortable collaborating on teams and with volunteers
  • Self-starter with strong organization and time management skills
  • Working knowledge of Drupal and CiviCRM an asset
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS an asset
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite an asset
  • Knowledge of French an asset

Reporting: This position will report directly to Senior Program Manager, WCT

Location: Ottawa

Hours of Work and Salary

  • This is a full-time contract position
  • Salary is commensurate with experience
