Over the past weeks, Women in Communications and Technology has been monitoring the growing concerns around COVID-19 and the impacts of the virus. As a result, WCT has made the difficult decision to postpone the 2020 Leadership Excellence Awards Gala, which was scheduled to be held on May 7, 2020 in Ottawa.
It has been just over two years since the revival of the BC Chapter of WCT, and we'd like to thank the board directors, volunteers, mentors, mentees, speakers, facilitators, attendees, sponsors and partners for making it happen. It has been fantastic, and WCT BC is looking forward to continuing the work in 2020.
WCT Manitoba in partnership with Maven Manitoba proudly hosted a thought-provoking speakers series event on November 27, 2019 at CWB National Leasing in Winnipeg.
Together, we learned the importance of having a mentor, coach and sponsor at various stages of your career.
WCT Manitoba's "The Women We Love" workshop on October 17, 2019 at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights was invigorating and engaging with 100 women in attendance.
The guest speaker was the inspiring Nancy Trites Botkin, the founder of Think8women and an Emmy-award-winning director, producer, speaker and author.
The WCT-FCT Toronto chapter is excited to kick-off our 2019-2020 season on Monday, October 28th, focusing throughout the year on, Unlocking Your Potential. Their first sold out event is a Design Thinking Workshop and Personal Ideation session, graciously hosted at Canada’s Learning Code, and facilitated by The Idea Suite.

My initial reaction was: intriguing and fun. Which was immediately followed by a few questions:
WCT Manitoba re-launched their chapter with Breaking the Barriers: Women Empowering Women at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights on October 26th, 2018.
The event featured an incredible line up of speakers, each bringing a unique experience and expertise to the conversation of gender parity.
This fall, WCT hosted a series of events and chapter launches in new communities across Canada. With only 27% of the Canadian ICT workforce being comprised of women, creating a network of professional women and community of support is a key to closing the gender gap in Canada.
