WCT, Royal Bank of Canada Partner to Promote Diversity and the Advancement of Women in Financial Technology

OTTAWA, October 2017. Women in Communications and Technology (WCT) today announced the launch of an exciting new relationship with Royal Bank of Canada (RBC). Jennifer Stott, senior vice president, Investor & Treasury Services IT, will represent RBC as a member of the WCT National Board. This partnership promises to raise the profile of women, their roles and their contributions to Canada’s financial technology industry.

“We’re delighted to welcome Royal Bank of Canada as a national sponsor,” said WCT Executive Director Joanne Stanley. “This partnership is a natural fit for WCT. RBC is leading the way in innovation and diversity in leadership, which aligns with WCT’s mission of advancing women in the technological and communication spaces of all manner of industries.”

As technology is changing, roles in banking and the financial sector at large are changing as well. WCT and RBC will work together to promote technology jobs in the financial sector, drawing on the strength of diversity and inclusion, which is a cornerstone value for both organizations. RBC’s focus on diversity is at the heart of its customer service and engagement with the communities it serves and its own workforce, which positions it as a very appealing workplace for the future for women.

“In recent years, the banking industry has faced disruption from new competitors, which has strengthened RBC’s commitment to attracting and retaining highly skilled technology talent. We believe recruiting, developing and advancing women in technology helps to gives us a competitive advantage against this disruption,” said Jennifer Stott, senior vice president, Investor & Treasury Services IT, RBC. “Our partnership with WCT will help us continue to promote the importance of the advancement of women in technology, both within RBC and across the country.”
